When Steven Spielberg was preparing for Minority Report, he invited an illustrious circle of scientists and visionaries to an idea summit. It was their objective to imagine a plausible vision of the future, culminating in some of the greatest world building in SciFi movies.
Considering its vast cultural impact one has to wonder how much of that world building was prescriptive rather than predictive. As Peter Calthorpe notes in the article:
